How To Beat Acne Naturally
According to statistics, almost 60 million people in the United States alone have acne, and 85 percent of teenagers are suffering from it. The numbers will tell you that acne, while fairly common, is no laughing matter.

Following are some of the natural ways you can beat acne as recommended by no less than the skin experts and practitioners themselves.
This can be very difficult especially when you just feel the need to scratch your face. Then again you must know that once the bacteria penetrate the pores of your skin, they can trigger acne breakouts.

Never attempt to pick, prick or squeeze your acne as doing so can cause severe scarring and infection to go deeper into the skin.

There are meds you can buy over the counter to treat mild to moderate acne, and they come in several forms --- ointments, solutions, lotions and gels. These medicines contain benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid or alternatively, azelaic acid. Benzoyl peroxide is great at killing P. acnes and is thought to reduce the production of oil.

On the other hand, salicylic acid aids in reducing the shedding of cells lining the follicles of the oil glands. Salicylic acid, as well as resorcinol and sulphur, can break down blackheads and whiteheads.

You may also be advised to apply topical antibiotic solutions to treat the infection. Tea tree oil is a good as it is both a natural antibiotic and antibacterial. It also has a drying effect on the skin, which keeps the P. acnes from worsening.

You will need sulphur to heal your existing blemishes and open up the pores, and alpha or beta hydroxyl acids or AHA or BHA to exfoliate your skin. For mild acne, you can use glycolic acid, or mandelic acid which is thought to be more effective in treating acne. It is also not as irritating as glycolic acid, so this is highly recommended for those with ultra sensitive skin.

Mild and moderate acne problems can be managed using the above tips, but for more severe cases, you must consult your dermatologist first. Usually, it may take several weeks to six months before you can see results, so be patient and determined and you will be rewarded with a blemish-free face.
If you have facial acne, wash your face two to three times a day using a gentle and fragrance-free cleanser.

Do not use soap on your face because soaps usually have harsh chemicals and ingredients that can worsen the state of your skin.

You must also avoid touching your face with your hands to avoid getting bacteria from your hands to your face.
